Pop Tarts?? No! Pop ART...

My art II students performed a Reader's Theatre play about Pop Art and Andy Warhol..they were incredible. After their performance they created their own version of Pop Art with india ink and watercolor wash. Here are a few examples and more are on their way!

Stipple Portraits

I'm really pleased with these! My art II class made these from photos of themselves and I think they are incredible...

long time..

My computer started hating me back in the winter, so I just refrained from posting anything until now... (because now I have a beautiful new computer!):) I had some great wire scupltures last year so I'll put those up and then start with the artwork my students are making this year. I hope you enjoy seeing our work!

About the Prints

We made these prints after looking at some artwork by Mexican print artist Elizabeth Catlett...she's known for her woodblock prints that call attention to oppression and injustice. We also checked out some Prints by Mississippi artist Walter Anderson..which is why we enhanced them with color. Anyway, because we wanted to conserve funds, we used styrofoam meat trays and pottery tools to make these amazing relief prints and then painted them with watercolors. Each of these protests something that the student thought was important. (example: the KKK, the War in Iraq, the mistreatment of animals, high gas prices..) I really have some of the brightest students in the state!
